Accommodation
For those unfamiliar with the area, Esk Valley is approximately a 20 minute drive north of Napier. Therefore, we recommend that you book accommodation at the northern end of town around the CBD. Here are some accommodation options that we recommend:
Napier Beach TOP 10 Holiday Park & Motel
This is located a 10 minute drive from the venue and has several budget-friendly options.
The Nautilus & Beach Front Motel
The Nautilus Napier and Beach Front Motel Napier are both located a 20 minute drive from the venue in the heart of Napier along the waterfront. Several restaurants and the beach are within easy walking distance
Scenic Hotel Te Pania
This is a little bit fancier, located right across the road from Ocean Spa and the statue of Pania. This is also a 20 minute drive from the venue.
Eat and Drink (Napier)
We have been on a few dates around Napier, so we have quite a few favourite spots.
The Gin Trap
This is where we first met. There’s a great selection of drinks including cocktails and mocktails, and the food is great as well.
The Rasoi
This is our favourite Indian restaurant, you should get the chicken trilogy starter and the chef’s signature butter chicken.
Faith Hope and Love
This is a Malaysian restaurant. Go here for something a bit cheaper but still delicious.
Hunger Monger
If you like seafood this is the place to go, everything is delicious. It’s busy, so book a table in advance if you can.
Eat and Drink (Hastings & Havelock North)
If you’re visiting Hastings and Havelock North while you’re here, we have some recommendations around there as well:
Birdwoods
This is a café so you can only go for breakfast or lunch. We highly recommend trying any of their cakes. There is a sculpture garden to walk around, ostriches you can feed, an old-fashioned lolly shop and a gift shop.
Fun Buns
Go here for great bao buns, asian fusion and cocktails in a teapot
Piku
The best Japanese restaurant in Hawkes Bay according to Kathryn, they also have great cocktails.
Mijita
For delicious South American food.
Rush Munro’s
This is the oldest running ice creamery in New Zealand and a local delicacy, so it would be rude not to visit really.
Transport
NOTE: We are currently investigating transport options. If you would like transport to and from the venue please let us know when you RSVP.
There aren’t any buses from Esk Valley to Napier, so you will need to arrange your own transport to and from the venue. We have many family and friends attending who are available to carpool and sober drive, so please let us know if you’d like help organising your transport. There is plenty of space for parking if you want to bring your own vehicle. To get around Napier more generally, if you are staying in the CBD there are buses that can take you around town and out to Hastings or Flaxmere. If you are staying in the CBD there are supermarkets and restaurants in walking distance and everywhere is flat.
